Fantastic community... still learning/adjusting to platform

I am so happy that LOM has found a new home on Skool after the main site was taken down by FB. While the new platform has a fraction of the people compared to the original group, it's fantastic that most of the people who truly built that platform and made it so cool (Myco Mommas, Jennifer M, Christine F and Squiggledoo) are still super active on the new platform. It's allowed me to "come out of the closet" and more actively participate without fear. I have a few things colonizing but no active grows so have been a bit quieter, but will contribute more over time. The platform itself is decent though I find hard to follow/keep up with (I'm always starting with refiltering so that newest is showing first) but it's a bit harder to keep track of posts and comments than it was on FB. All that said, I hugely appreciate the time and effort the mods have put into building the community, I love the lab videos from MycoMommas, and I'm looking forward to using the grow guides more as I evolve my techniques. BTW, putting in a year + for membership as I'm including FB time. I joined Skool as soon as it was an option but no longer remember how many months.

🍄✨ Ladies of Mycology is a welcoming, inclusive, women-centered community for anyone curious about fungi, ecology, cultivation, foraging, science, art, and the quiet magic of the mycelial world. What began as a shared love of mushrooms has grown into a supportive space where learning, curiosity, and connection intertwine—much like mycelium beneath the forest floor. This community exists to bring us together in one intentional place to learn, share, ask questions, celebrate wins, and grow side-by-side.

Ladies of Mycology is free to join. At 3 hours per week, you're investing about 13.0 hrs per month of your time (worth roughly $650 at your rate). Compared to searching for the same answers on your own (6 hrs/wk), the community saves you about 3 hours each week by putting everything in one place.

Community Culture

We recognize that mycology is very male dominated, so this group was created to allow women a safe space to discuss mycology. From foraging, to cultivation right up to how to use a microscope to check out spores.

Meet the Team

Full Kick Ass Team

This community was started by Suzie and Missy originally on FB. It was started as a safe space for women to learn how to grow mushrooms for their mental and physical health. Though they had to pivot to their own in person businesses, we will be eternally grateful for starting what has grown to be an amazing community. After being zucked from FB, We have a team of incredible Admins and Mods who are making it their mission to rebuild the LoM family back up on the skool platform and make it better than ever.

Having been with the original group under the evil robotic overlords, maybe...

Having been with the original group under the evil robotic overlords, maybe Borg? Who knows for certain in that evil empire. So glad we have found a place where we can be free to be our own welcoming, inclusive, knowledgeable, funny, excited, silly, serious, newbie just learning, those of us who have had success growing and still love learning new things and techniques, and the upper floor where the really smart people live, the ones who don’t mind us asking repetitive questions cuz we can’t find the answers in the really informative guides provided by you wonderful teachers!

I have loved this group of women since I first joined on the evil overlords platform and was sooooo sad to watch it slowly getting pushed out by gatekeepers who didn’t have a clue what we were doing here. Working within an all women group made our group a safe place for women who had bad experiences in other coed groups. Starting with the first campout we really started bonding and by the third and HOPEFULLY (PLEASE) not final campout. I am willing to be much more involved in the planning of the next one! Just not something I feel confident enough about to lead the charge.

I do enjoy working with a group of compadres that can dole out the chores in a way that nobody feels overwhelmed. I really really think we could make this work. Last camp venue was a wonderful well set up place that had a few minor glitches that could possibly be solved by more generators for cooking and charging our misc objects that we just can’t live without. I have a Jenny I could bring. And I’m pretty sure we could find a couple more to make the cooking area much more efficient. I think the power shortage was our biggest obstacle that time. And it is a really easily problem to fix if we know in advance what we need to do. I loved the arboretum property were we stayed. Good camping areas , the business centers were set up and distributed well to meet everyones needs.

I loved camping with all of you and have made so many friends that just fit into my weird ways. I have found my tribe finally in my 6th decade! I have so much fun meeting up with y ‘all. Putting faces to names and really beginning to build a real relationship around outer shared interests. I haven’t met anyone that I have disliked in all our meetups and hope that we will be able to continue to connect at least every other year for a big campout get together We have so much opportunity for bonding on those occasions. I know it was REALLY STRESSFUL for the main organizers for the campout. Maybe we can do smaller groups. Or keep them the size of the last one, but do every other year. I just love that wonderful community that forms around a campfire where there may be peeps active tripping , others maybe having a small drink or two or smoking some good stuff just vibing together while we focus on many different aspects of our separate mushie journeys.

A few classes for beginners is always appreciated even by those of us who have spent the last couple of years grooour own medi I haven’t met a person here that I didn’t like , there were a few that I didn’t get to to spend as much time with as I wanted to , but it is just a natural organic feeling to our gatherings that make my heart happy! LOVE ALL OF YOU GUYS SO MUCH! Mucho love to all of you!
