Mission & Values

Written Identity exists to help overthinkers, feelers, and high-functioning humans reconnect with their own voice without fixing, performing, or pretending. Inside The Village, members learn the Write Ugly Method™. A grounded, repeatable, no-BS writing practice that rebuilds clarity, self-trust, and emotional honesty. This isn’t journaling for aesthetics or self-help theater. It’s practical writing that supports real life. Through simple daily practices and optional community connection, members rebuild a relationship with writing that strengthens communication, decision-making, leadership, and creative work across life, relationships, and business. This is The Village. A place to think clearly, write honestly, and stop doing this alone.

CLARITY OVER CHAOS: We slow down to see what’s actually true instead of reacting, spiraling, or performing understanding.
HONESTY OVER POLISH: We write what’s real, not what sounds good. Truth matters more than presentation.
NO BS: Anti Toxic Positivity , no spiritual bypassing, no self-help theater. Practical clarity only.
PRESENCE OVER PRESSURE: Two honest minutes count. Consistency beats intensity every time.
SELF-TRUST OVER SELF-CORRECTION: We don’t write to fix ourselves. We write to hear ourselves.
STRUCTURE WITH SOUL: Frameworks exist to support life, not control it.
THE VILLAGE: You don’t have to do this alone. Connection is available, never demanded.

Who Is This For?

Not For

  • QUICK-FIX SEEKERS: Anyone looking for hacks, shortcuts, or instant transformation.
  • PERFORMATIVE SELF-HELP: Prioritizing Aesthetic journaling instead of honesty, spiritual bypassing, or “high vibes only” spaces.
  • EXTERNAL VALIDATION HUNTERS: People who want to be told who they are instead of discovering it themselves.
  • CONSTANT ACCESS EXPECTATIONS: Those who expect emotional labor, constant interaction, or hand-holding from others.
  • AVOIDANCE DISGUISED AS GROWTH: Anyone unwilling to be honest on the page or take responsibility for their own clarity.

Perfect For

  • OVERTHINKERS & FEELERS: People who think deeply, feel intensely, and are tired of living in their head.
  • HIGH-FUNCTIONING HUMANS: Those who look fine on the outside but feel scattered, disconnected, or stuck internally.
  • PEOPLE WHO WANT PRACTICAL CLARITY: Anyone who wants grounded tools that actually help them think, communicate, and decide better.
  • WRITERS, CREATIVES, LEADERS, BUILDERS: People who want their writing to support real life, relationships, and work.
  • COMMUNITY-SEEKERS (WITHOUT PRESSURE): Those who want connection, reflection, and shared space without obligation or performance.

Key Benefits

  • Learn how to slow mental noise and turn overthinking into usable clarity.
  • STOP OVERTHINKING LOOPS: Break repetitive mental spirals by translating thoughts into grounded, actionable insight.
  • BREAK OUT OF BURNOUT: Move out of emotional exhaustion and shutdown by rebuilding capacity, not forcing productivity.
  • CONSISTENT WRITING PRACTICE: Rebuild a simple, sustainable writing habit that actually fits real life.
  • SELF-TRUST: Develop confidence in your own thoughts, decisions, and instincts without second-guessing everything.
  • BETTER COMMUNICATION: Express yourself more clearly in conversations, relationships, and work without rehearsing or people-pleasing.
  • EMOTIONAL REGULATION: Use writing to process emotions without spiraling, dumping, or avoiding them.
  • REAL-WORLD APPLICATION: Apply what you write strategically to life, relationships, leadership, creativity, and business.
  • CONNECTION: Access a grounded, interactive village where you can engage, observe, or participate at your own pace.
  • NO-BS TOOLS: Practical frameworks that work without fluff, hype, or self-help theater.

Community Culture

Skool may call this a community, but what we’ve built here is The Village. This is a safe, supportive, human space where you can show up as you are and be met with care and respect. Support here is steady and grounded, never loud or invasive. The Village is loving and easy-going, not intense or performative. You’re encouraged to explore your thoughts, creativity, and truth without pressure to be polished or impressive. People often share their experiences, thoughts, and writing, and engage with daily or weekly writing prompts and reflective content. You’re welcome to participate actively, respond to others, or engage quietly with what resonates. Sharing is optional, but always valued. Creativity is encouraged in all forms. Messy ideas and unfinished thoughts belong here. This is a space for experimentation, expression, and growth without judgment. The vibe is relaxed and lighthearted, with room for humor, warmth, and fun. Deep conversations and mindset shifts happen naturally alongside casual check-ins, laughter, and everyday moments. This is The Village. A place for real connection, real growth, and real life, held with clarity, kindness, and ease.

Meet the Team

Alli Gatlin

I created Written Identity after realizing how many capable, emotionally intelligent people were silently drowning while “looking fine.” I was one of them. Writing became the way I slowed my mind, told the truth, and rebuilt trust with myself without fixing or performing. This Village exists so no one has to do that work alone. It’s honest, supportive, no-BS, and rooted in real life.

Such an Empowering Space!

I love being part of this community which values authenticity while also holding space for safely exploring. Frameworks encouraging personal exploration without judgement from ourselves (our worst critics) or others. Alli is funny, raw and so profound

Jill, this really made me smile. I’m glad the funny came through right alongside the raw and the real because that balance matters so much to me. Thank you for naming the safety in this space, especially the kind that lets us explore without our inner critics running the show. I love having you here and appreciate the honesty and openness you bring to the community. 🖤

The Village Becomes Your Home

What I love about Written Identity, or "the village" as it is lovingly referred to, is that the founder, Alli, genuinely cares about the people in this group. She isn't looking to grow the village just so she can profit; it's about connection, the writing journey, and being able to express your feelings, no matter how ugly they may feel in the moment. The village is also special because of the amount of support. There is no competition here; only love and cheerleading. Anyone looking to rebuild from a place of sadness, depression or complete devastation will find "Written Identity" a safe place to land and start over. Zero Burnout, zero nervous system overloads here. But having said that, you don't HAVE to be sad/mad/burned out to benefit from the village. Literally anyone who just wants to write but might need prompting or reminders or someone to say "your voice is valid" will also love Written Identity. You can come as you are, and we will love the entirety of you in the village :)

Thank you for sharing this with others. Hearing your perspective of our village is so important. I will continue to support each and every writer who is ready to come write along side us. And to double down on the statement. The Written Identity is for everyone who wants to write, no prerequisites.

Find Community & Yourself

From the very first prompt to now, this community has been such a beneficial place for me to learn, express and grow. Alli has created a wonderful space and environment to share that feels like a real community despite being all virtual. Written Identity has helped me to step into my purpose and stand true in my identity. Alli’s 1:1 mentorship has also helped me tremendously in my pursuit of writing professionally. Her insight and knowledge has been an asset to my growth. If you’re looking for a sense of community and an introspective approach to writing and finding your voice, this is the place to be!

Alliee my love, reading this was such a reminder of why this space exists. Seeing you step into your voice, your purpose, and your truth both in community and in your writing has been powerful to witness. Thank you for trusting the process, the page, and yourself. I’m incredibly proud of the growth you’ve allowed and the writer you’re becoming. I’m really grateful you’re here and so honored to walk alongside you in this season. 🖤

Warm inviting no BS space

I love the space and the author. I’m finding great value and inspiration here with likeminded folk. All is warm, hilarious, and a great resource of information and wisdom. I feel seen, validated and supported.

Léa, this means more than you know. A warm, no-BS space where you feel seen and supported is the whole point. I’m really glad you’re here and grateful you trusted this work enough to step into it with us. So glad you’re here and that it feels like somewhere you can actually exhale.
