How to report a Google review

To report a Google review, open your Business Profile and select Read reviews. Select the Report icon next to the review, choose a reason, and select Send report. Only a review that breaks Google's policies qualifies. Disliking or disagreeing with it is not a reason.
The second route is the Reviews Management Tool, where you report a new review for removal and check the status of earlier reports. Google says evaluation typically takes several days.
The catch: Google doesn't get involved in conflicts between businesses and customers. A fair but harsh review stays up. No provider can promise removal, so be wary of anyone who does.
How do I flag a review from my Business Profile?
Flag and report are the same action. Four steps:
- Open your Business Profile and select Read reviews.
- Select the Report icon next to the review.
- Choose the reason that fits, such as Spam or Profanity.
- Select Send report.
What is the Reviews Management Tool?
It is Google's page for reporting review removals and checking review status. Confirm your account and select your business. Then select Continue, choose Report a new review for removal, and select Report next to the review.
Pick a reason and submit. Write down the date and the status afterward, because Google's flow shows status labels, not a case number.
Which reviews can I report?
Only reviews that break Google's policies. Google says not to report a review just because you disagree with it or dislike it.
That covers the three-star review that stings and the one-star review that is rude but real. If you can't name the policy a review breaks, the report is unlikely to go anywhere. Reading whether you can delete a Google review first can save you several days of waiting.
How long does it take, and how do I check?
Typically several days. In the tool, Decision pending means the review is flagged but not evaluated yet. Escalated, which applies to an appeal, means to check your email for updates. A third status says the report was reviewed and found no policy violation.
That third status is the one that opens the door to an appeal. The steps are in how to dispute a Google review.
What if the review is an extortion demand?
Use Google's separate extortion form. It is only for direct demands for money or favors in exchange for removing reviews, and other policy breaks go through the normal report.
Keep screenshots of the demand, direct links to the reviews, the sender's details and a timeline. Don't pay and don't engage. Google says paying can encourage further attempts and doesn't guarantee removal.
