Weekly pet waste removal for one dog runs about $10 to $20 a visit, or $43 to $87 a month, across seven price pages. There is no national price. Your dog count, yard size and visit schedule move it.

A second weekly visit costs less than the first. On the four pages that list a twice-weekly price, it adds $6 to $12 a week. A first or one-time cleanup runs from about $75, or $100 an hour. Some pages charge extra for deodorizer.

The catch is that the seven pages are different businesses in different regions. If you run a route, price against the companies near you. If you're hiring one, ask two or three to quote your yard.

What does weekly service cost for one dog?

The table lists each page's weekly one-dog price and what it comes to a month. The monthly figure is the visit price times 52 weeks, divided by 12 months.

Price pageWeekly, 1 dogAbout per month
Independent with a three-town service area$10 a visit$43.33
Independent in Seaford, NY$10 a week$43.33
Independent in Wellton, AZ$45 a month for 1 to 2 dogs$45.00 ($10.38 a weekly visit)
Poopy Scoopers LLCFrom $13 a visit$56.33
DoodyCalls Jacksonville franchise page$16 a visit$69.33
DoodyCalls Denver franchise page$17.50 a visit$75.83
Yellowstone Pooper Scoopers$20 a week$86.67

The Denver table is written for yards under half an acre. Yellowstone and Poopy Scoopers have ProveWorth pages that attribute these prices to their own websites.

What do twice-weekly and every-other-week visits cost?

Twice-weekly visits cost less per visit. Twice the twice-weekly price, minus the weekly price, is what the second visit adds. That is my arithmetic on each page's rows.

Price pageWorking, 1 dogSecond visit adds
Independent with a three-town service area2 x $8 = $16, minus $10$6 a week
DoodyCalls Denver franchise page2 x $13.25 = $26.50, minus $17.50$9 a week
Poopy Scoopers LLC (from prices)2 x $11.50 = $23, minus $13$10 a week
DoodyCalls Jacksonville franchise page2 x $14 = $28, minus $16$12 a week

Every other week goes the other way. The Jacksonville page lists $26 a visit for one dog against $16 weekly. Poopy Scoopers lists from $22 against from $13. Per month, that is $56.33 against $69.33 in Jacksonville, and $47.67 against $56.33 for Poopy Scoopers. You pay less a month and more a visit.

What does a first or one-time cleanup cost?

It varies more than anything else on this page. One-time prices run from $75 on the Wellton page and from $80 for a Poopy Scoopers deep clean. Yellowstone charges $100 an hour, billed for the time it takes. The Seaford page charges $2 a minute for the first cleaning, which is $120 an hour. One independent lists a $5 startup fee and a flat $20 spring cleanup.

Some brands waive it. Scoop Soldiers' page lists no extra charge for the initial cleaning, and Poop 911's page lists a free first service with regular scheduled service. Both are brand-level claims, so ask the location what applies. The Jacksonville page says a first-time cleaning may carry a small surcharge and prints no figure.

What makes the price go up?

The same few things show up on every page that explains its pricing. Pet Butler says its price is based on the number of dogs, the last yard cleanup date and how often you want service. DoodyCalls' Eastern Massachusetts page adds location and the size of your pets.

  • Yard size. The Jacksonville page says pricing may vary with the size and layout of the yard, and large amounts of debris can get in the way of scooping.
  • Where you live. The Denver page lists higher rates and a modified schedule for three mountain zip codes.
  • Dog count. An extra dog adds $2.50 a week at Yellowstone, $4 a week on the Seaford page and $1 a visit per dog on the three-town independent's page.
  • Add-ons. Deodorizer is $12 per application on the Jacksonville page (about 500 square feet) and $10 extra on the Wellton page. Yellowstone lists haul-away for a small extra fee, and the three-town independent includes off-site disposal in its prices.

A very small yard is a different case. Yellowstone's page says to ask about a custom rate for a tiny yard or a single small dog.

How do I get a quote when a company posts no price?

Ask. DoodyCalls corporate, Pet Butler, Scoop Soldiers and Poop 911 give quotes instead of dollar amounts on the pages I checked. DoodyCalls says its locations are independently owned and operated, and two local franchise pages above do print prices.

Give each company the same facts so the quotes compare: how many dogs, roughly how big the yard is, when it was last cleaned and how often you want a visit. Ask what the first cleanup costs and whether haul-away and deodorizer are included.

What do ProveWorth business pages list for price?

Two pet waste companies print prices on their pages. Yellowstone Pooper Scoopers lists weekly service from $20 for the first dog. Poopy Scoopers lists a starting price for each plan. Both pages say the figures come from the business's own website.

Fetch N Clean prints no prices. Its page lists weekly, twice-weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and one-time plans and says no plan carries a long-term contract.
