Crust & Crumb Academy first showed up on my YouTube feed back in March 2026 while I was searching for ways to bake homemade sourdough bread. I had absolutely no experience baking bread. Honestly, I never had the patience for it. It was far easier to buy bread at the store than to learn how to make it myself.
But when my favorite sourdough disappeared from the shelves, I started searching for recipes to recreate it at home… and that search sent me straight down the rabbit hole of sourdough baking.

I got into sourdough later in life, and one thing I’ve learned is that where you learn matters just as much as what you learn.
What I appreciate about Crust & Crumb Academy is that it’s not just people posting pictures of bread… it’s people trying to understand the process. There’s a real focus on why things work, not just what to do next.

Having a pro like Henry Hunter actually engage with the community and answer questions is a level of value you usually have to pay a premium for. I recommend this site to anyone beginning or proven baker to use this site. There is so much support to answer any questions you may have. Problem solving with lots of images to follow and a lead baker-Henry who wants you to succeed and encourages you along, whether there is lots of room for improvement and many opportunities to succeed and to not give up. I haven’t been a member long but I am enjoying it immensely.

This is one of my favorite communities and I’m a true novice when it comes to bread baking. Members are helpful and supportive and Chef is fantastic. He answers questions, provides great videos, and even hosts live in person by camera baking sessions.

What I like best about Crust and Crumb Academy is the willingness of our Professional Baking Coach who guides us each step of the way. Henry Hunter has a real gift of being able to break down the Science of Baking. I have completed 3 projects each one turned out delicious. These courses are so practical for everyone. I'm so glad I was pointed toward this community. I belong to a bunch of pages regarding sourdough, but I have never posted my bread up there because well... if it's not perfect they usually rip you a new one. I'm not into that. We learn and grow by bringing each other up, not down. Hats off to you @Henry Hunter you have created an amazing community here where all are welcome and learn from each other. Sure you can use youtube or read a book to learn how to make bread/bake but there comes a time when you really need community to troubleshoot what's going on. And that is what the Crust & Crumb Academy really shines at!!

This course and group have helped me achieve so much with my bread baking skills. I would get impatient when I would make bread and didn't trust the process. With Henry's instructions and telling myself to stick to the process I have found I can make great bread at home. I highly recommend this group because it has something for everyone.
